Pantry and Food Justice
For several years the Agape community organized with Students Overcoming Struggle to equip students to share their stories and advocate for systemic change, leading to the creation of the Economic Crisis Response Team. In 2017, the Agape House sponsored the Resolution On Commitment To Fighting Food Insecurity And Expanding The Associated Students Food Pantry At San Diego State University which was adopted by the Associated Students/SDSU which resulted in the creation of the Associated Students Food Pantry. As a continued part of our commitment to food justice, the Agape House also opened its own food pantry to help meet the needs of students, faculty, and staff who were facing food insecurity.
I am a student, faculty, or staff member.
Where can I get food?
1. Associated Student’s Food Pantry - On April 19th, 2017 the AS/SDSU council members unanimously voted in favor of expanding the AS/SDSU Food Pantry. SDSU Agape House has been actively addressing and supporting students facing food insecurity and is proud that San Diego State University is starting to address this issue as well. The on-campus food pantry was expanded to two days a week and will also begin to include sanitary and/or hygienic products. We are thankful for the various individuals and groups who have been working with us and the university on bringing light to the important problem of food insecurity among students and staff.
2. Agape Food Pantry - The Agape Food Pantry is available to students, faculty, and staff anytime the house is open for supplemental and emergency food and hygiene needs.
