Living in Community
(TEST PAGE ONLY)
We dream of a space where students can grow in community through common living. This growth comes from shared responsibility, experiences, and development through community covenants, visioning, and cooperation. What if everyone thought of others before themselves? This radical community living style is often reserved for camps and monasteries. Imagine a university experience of compassion, care, and wondering. Living in community will serve you for the rest of your life and will benefit the worlds you live into.

Are you ready?

Are you the same Nice People with Free Pizza?
That's us. Our commitment to kindness has been a staple predates the University part of SDSU. Since 1953 we have been the only open and affirming Christian campus ministry at SDSU; welcoming all, wherever you are on your journey of faith.
Open and Affirming Christians?
Absolutely. Jesus is very clear that we are called to welcome and embrace everyone.
Will I REALLY get my own room?
You sure do. After extensive conversations with members of our community, we learned that personal space is important for each of us and having a place to recharge often creates a desire to more-readily engage in community.

Is it REALLY that close to campus?
Yep, click here to see that we share the same air.

Do we need to be a Lutheran or Episcopalian?
No. Agape San Diego is funded by individual donors, Lutheran and Episcopal churches, and other faith-based organizations, Agape is a space for personal, spiritual, and emotional development. Religious expression is not required or expected. Weekly worship is offered. All are welcome and none are expected.

Can I decorate my room?
Absolutely. Our resident agreement spells out precisely what you can use to make your space your own but please leave hammers and nails at home. Push pins too, come to think of it.

A kitchen down the hall?
Firstly, there are no halls. All of our single rooms are accessible from communal spaces.
Secondly, yes, there's a large, open-plan kitchen and dining space, with a great view of the Campus Green, on each of our three residential floors. These kitchens are stocked with communal ingredients that residents replenish when used. Along with Community meals, residents may use the kitchen and dining room anytime, day or night. There are individual cabinets for food storage as well. See the resident guide for more information about personal appliances.

What if I run out of laundry detergent?
Along with communal food essentials, we offer laundry detergent for residents who run out. We also expect that they will replenish what was used.
