Next year we turn 75! Celebrating milestones of ministry among college students is more than looking back with gratitude; it is an act of faith that remembers how God has been at work across generations. At both San Diego State University and University of California San Diego, decades of campus ministry have created spaces where students have wrestled honestly with belief, doubt, vocation, and belonging. Marking this kind of anniversary honors the quiet, often unseen work of faith formation, chaplains, student leaders, and communities who have accompanied young adults as they learn to pray, to serve, and to see their lives as meaningful within a larger story. Milestones help name that this is not fleeting work, but a sustained witness to God’s presence in the midst of academic pressure, transition, and discovery.

At the same time, commemorating 75 years invites present-day students into the ongoing work of personal discernment. College is a threshold season, where questions of identity, purpose, relationships, and calling come into sharper focus, often with both urgency and uncertainty. A milestone reminds students that they are not the first to ask these questions, nor will they be the last, and that their discernment is held within a living tradition of faith and community. In this way, celebration becomes more than nostalgia, it becomes formation itself. It strengthens the imagination that God continues to speak, guide, and invite each generation into lives of courage, compassion, and purpose.

As the year unfolds, we'll host several events to celebrate so consider this your Save The Date because it's all happening!
